About the Course
Aberdovey Golf Club occupies a beautiful stretch of duneland between the Dyfi Estuary and the hills of Mid Wales. Founded in 1892, largely through the efforts of a Colonel Ruck, the course became the beloved subject of Bernard Darwin's finest golf writing. Darwin, the greatest golf writer of the 20th century, declared Aberdovey 'the course that my soul loves best of all the courses in the world.' The layout winds through natural dune ridges with the railway running alongside several holes, the estuary glittering in the distance. At 6,445 yards and par 71, the course is neither excessively long nor obviously penal, but the winds off the Irish Sea and the subtlety of the terrain ensure a genuine challenge for any level of golfer.
