About the Course
The Cashen Course at Ballybunion was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1984 alongside the historic Old Course. Where the Old Course is a beloved classic, the Cashen pushes the boundaries of natural links design — the terrain is more extreme, the dunes higher and more dramatic, the routing more severe. Several holes plunge through massive sandhill corridors that feel unlike anything else in golf. The Cashen is a more demanding and controversial course than its famous neighbour, but for golfers seeking the ultimate links challenge in Ireland, it offers an extraordinary experience.
