About the Course
Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club, also known as Deal, is an absolute brute of a links course. Its back nine — particularly the last seven holes — are relentless. Founded in 1892 and designed by Tommy Dunn with later revisions by Alister MacKenzie, the course stretches along the shingle coast of Kent between Sandwich and Dover. The layout is a traditional out-and-back with the sea running alongside much of the course, ensuring that wind is always a factor. The course has hosted two Open Championships (1909 and 1920) and would have hosted more but for the ever-present threat of flooding. A favourite among connoisseurs who appreciate pure, uncompromising links golf.
