About the Course
Royal Lytham & St Annes is one of the most unusual and revered links on the Open Championship rota. Unlike most links courses, Lytham is landlocked — the sea is two miles away — but it has all the characteristics of great links golf: sandy soil, firm fairways, and a fearsome collection of bunkers (over 200 of them). The course begins with a short par 3, has no par 5 on the front nine, and finishes with a brutal homeward stretch that has decided many Open Championships. Seve Ballesteros famously chipped from the car park at the 16th to win here in 1979.
