About the Course
Royal Melbourne's West Course is universally regarded as the finest golf course in Australia and one of the great courses in the world. Alister MacKenzie designed it in 1926 during his Australian tour that also produced Cypress Point and Augusta National. The course plays through sandy Melbourne sandbelt terrain with magnificent Banksia trees, huge sweeping greens, and MacKenzie's signature flowing bunkering. The greens are among the fastest and most subtly contoured in world golf, requiring extraordinary skill to read and putt.
