About the Course
Royal North Devon at Westward Ho! holds the distinction of being the oldest links course in England, established in 1864. The course occupies a vast tract of rough commonland on the coast of North Devon, where sheep and horses have the right to wander freely across the fairways. The links character is utterly authentic: enormous sandhills called the Rushes run along the edges of several holes, sea views are constant, and the course has barely changed in 160 years. Old Tom Morris contributed to its design. This is golf at its most elemental and historical — a UNESCO-nominated landscape where the game has been played continuously for over a century and a half.
