About the Course
Rye Golf Club was founded in 1894 and the original design is credited to 25-year-old Harry Colt, making it his inaugural work before he went on to design or remodel dozens of the world's great courses. With a measly par of 68 and a layout measuring over 6,300 yards, Rye has to be one of the toughest courses in Britain. The course occupies a narrow strip of linksland between Camber Sands and the Romney Marsh, with tight fairways, deep bunkers, and a wind that seems to blow from every direction. It is a thoroughly private club — visitors are only possible on introduction from a member, making a round here one of the most coveted experiences in British golf.
