About the Course

Saunton Golf Club's East Course is consistently ranked among the finest links in England and yet remains little known outside the south-west. The course plays through the enormous Braunton Burrows dune system on the North Devon coast — the largest sand dune system in England and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Herbert Fowler designed the course in 1897 with revisions by Frank Pennink, and it has a quality and character that bear comparison with the best links in Britain. The dunes are spectacular, the turf is firm and fast, and the wind is ever-present.
