About the Course
Southport & Ainsdale Golf Club occupies a fine stretch of Lancashire links between the towns of Southport and Ainsdale, forming part of the celebrated Merseyside coastal corridor. James Braid designed the current layout in 1906 and the course has remained largely intact, testament to the quality of his original work. The club hosted the Ryder Cup in 1933 and 1937 — two of the matches played in Britain in the interwar period — and has been a regular Open Championship qualifying venue. The course features classic links character: tight fairways through pine-edged dunes, deep pot bunkers, and an exposure to the sea wind that makes club selection a constant challenge. Southport & Ainsdale is a club where the ambience and tradition are as important as the golf itself.
