About the Course
The New Course at St Andrews Links was opened in 1895 to relieve pressure on the famous Old Course, and it has grown into a distinguished links in its own right. Designed by Tom Morris with later modifications, it plays to par 71 over 6,625 yards and shares the same linksland as its more celebrated neighbour. The New Course has hosted the St Andrews Trophy and various other significant amateur events and is regularly ranked among the best courses in the county of Fife — high praise in a county that also contains the Old Course, Kingsbarns, and Dumbarnie. For many visiting golfers, a round on the New Course is the perfect way to experience the St Andrews links environment without the pressure and formality of the ballot system on the Old.
