About the Course
Wallasey Golf Club holds a unique place in golf history as the course where Dr Frank Stableford first introduced his eponymous scoring system in 1932, now used in millions of rounds worldwide. The course itself is a fine links on the tip of the Wirral Peninsula, looking across the Mersey Estuary towards Liverpool. Old Tom Morris laid out the original course in 1891 and it has evolved through subsequent improvements into a challenging 6,607-yard par-72 test. The views of Liverpool's waterfront — with the Liver Building, the Cunard Building, and the Port of Liverpool Building clearly visible — add a uniquely urban backdrop to what is otherwise a classic seaside links. Wallasey is accessible by ferry from Liverpool, making it one of the most unusual commutes to a top-100 course in the world.
